    Snow Snow Snow

Looks like the only thing I will be driving today is the snow blower.

I wonder if I have enough zinc in my snow blower oil, hate to have the blower lose a bearing. Ha Ha Ha Ha

    Jack;

As long as you're driving it and not pushing it or shoveling it.

Sorry, but we were at 79 degrees yesterday here in Florida. Today, although starting a little cooler, looks pretty good. I'm taking my 63 over to gas up (w/brew) for the commutes to and from the winter meet later this week (25 minute drive).

Being a 2004 mover from Chicago, I have to admit I don't miss those winter snow scenes at all. I look at them and feel a chill through to my bones.

Love your pictures. They give me chills. 63 and sunny today in NC. 66 tomorrow. People are wearing shorts and T-shirts.

I won't talk about the past two weeks of high temps in the 30's. It felt like a warm day in Maine.

Remember when we used to drive Corvettes in this stuff. I recall a wintery day in western Massachusetts pushing a fraternity brother out of the parking lot even though he had snow tires on his 1960. We had one car if we were lucky and that is what we drove regardless of the weather. I wonder what the judges would do in judging non-DOT snow tires.

Nice looking garage, is the 2nd floor the ultimate "Man Cave"?

I have a friend that brought a 68 conv. here on the so. shore,(Mass.) from a orignal owner just recently, and received a set of studded snow tires.I got a kick out of that, but just goes to show you there cars were once a all season car.

Actually, my 63 wasn't too bad in snow. I once tried a set of GR70x15's on the back (mind you on 5.5" rims), and I had all I could do to slide it through corners. The narrow rims caused the treads to open up providing very good traction. Also, the main thing against any performance engine powered car was the engine wanting to idle at too high a speed and the fast acceleration (ramp up in RPM's). You needed a chevy six for that. My Vette has a 3.36 final gear so that helped to some degree, specially starting out in 2nd. The old C-2's have nearly 50/50 weight distribution which made them better than many cars, like tri 5 Chevies.
I did get caught in Illinois trying to get back to Wisconsin for the weekend in a March blizzard. The worst thing on the tollway was the salt. I ran the washers out and had to stop along side the road every so often to use fresh snow to clean the windshield with the wipers going - no fun.

They still are, and I still have the marks on my radio speaker grill where my tips of skis use to rest with socks over the tips.

It will be, once I get 40 years of moves , junk, treasures, son's toys, my toy's out of it.

Right now the I am allowed the right side of garage for car work and of course the living room coffee table in front of the fire for detail work.

No heat out there yet, no insulation. Just a little heater I put in cockpit while working on dash, doors, interior. More like "cave man" then "Man Cave."

How do you get the Volvo through the small opening in the stone wall??

                    Just kidding.

Very carefully, but then again , I have always liked a tight squeeze. About 35 years ago, I went to Long Island Corvettes to buy a part, and when I was about to leave, I had (tried) to drive between two posts. (short cut) did not make it. Left nice rips on both sides of car, But when you are in your early 20's you think anything is possible.

                        Jack,

Scenery is a bit different than when I visited with you last June. I'll have a cold one for you at the Blue Max. Plan to make it to the Winter Regional next year.

When you left Long Island Corvette with you parts was Richard looking out the window when you tried to fit between the two posts!!

They probably had to pick him up off the floor!

I was too embarrassed to back up, so I drove straight ahead. Not one of my better decisions. Not to worry, I hit a pole on the 59th street bridge in Manhattan, a few weeks later. Got the whole front end fixed.

It was great being young and carefree, stupid also , but we didn't know we were stupid, right?
