    68 Drive Shaft Stencil Position

Can anyone with an original 68 help answer what is the correct oreintation of the drive shaft part number? Would the part number be readable from the driver's side or passenger's side? Also is it positioned in the center of the drive shaft. I have a 68 auto. There is no mention of position in the Judging guide and I didn't find anything in archives.

    Thanks

      John,

I also have a '68 automatic and did a frame off in 2006. I placed my stencil so it was readable from the driver's side. This is based on the Quanta material that I purchased and not from what I could find on my restored driveshaft. I see that Jeff placed his on the passenger's side. I'm not sure there was an absolute on stencil placement and hope some people with original cars can give us more information.

We would love to see pictures of your project.

John, Patrick H. has a photo album of his 5 star bowtie car ,which has a original pic. of his driveshaft stencil, which I used for my 72 car.

Thank you to all that replied to my questions. I saw a 72 restoration that had the sentcil readable from the driver's side. I guess the stencil #s were painted from either side. I have been restoring my vehicle for the last 6 years unfortunatly I picked a restoration company from the driveline and the person did a poor job (waste of money) even though he claim to be Bloomington Gold jobs. The car was brought to a second well known company in CT and they were expensive for the quality of work performed. The left side grill mounding doesn't fit right and they claimed you have to flex both the fiberglass and metal trim piece to make it fit. They stated that if either part failed they would do the repair. I've decided to do the restoration myself. I completely took apart the car down to the frame (for the second time)! Once I get the chasis back together I'll post pictures. Because of the past problems I stayed off of the board for awhile. It feels good to be back on the NCRS board!
