dragstrip is just through the intersection in front of Lowe's - on right side as you would drive towards the host hotel - RV parking is across the street - they have a HUGE grandstand area

I would give at least until the third or last week of April before hoping to find anything in your mailboxes. Based on previous National Registration confirmations.

        Kevin,

astute observation - was figuring not until at least the week after the BoD meets, which is this weekend in Charlotte - they will tour the "new" site for the National

          NCRS Convention 2010

There will be an official announcement soon about the location change for the 2010 NCRS National Convention. but I have received many emails and calls already so here goes the story.

NCRS was mandated to move from the Garage area inside the Charlotte Motor Speedway to the ZMAX Drag Strip. We will be in the concession area under the John Force grandstands (about 100,000 ft. sq.). The area is concrete and is covered. All functions concerning cars will be within 200 yards of the Judging Field, even trailers will be within an easy walk of about the same distance.

After the NCRS Board looked over the facilities this weekend, it seemed as if it met with everyones approval. In my opinion, it is a nicer area than the Speedway Garages. The ZMAX is still on Speedway property and easier to get into also.

The two chapters sponsoring the convention (Carolinas and Southeast) hope we can show everyone some good old Southern hospitality this July.

If you have any specific questions about the change, please email me at tio2jim@aol.com. We are anticipating a great NCRS Convention this July and we hope you can join us.

Re: Convention Information Available Now Online - Change of Location!

The Judging field has been changed to the zMAX Drag Strip just a short way from the Convention Hotels. The Board of Directors did a site visit during the Board Meeting (March 20) and was very impressed with the facility. The zMAX Dragway is the only four-lane, all-concrete drag strip in the world; it seats 30,000 spectators; covers 46.5 acres and features a 34,000 square-foot starting line tower. It is not your typical 1960's drag strip!! Judging will be held in the 100,000 sq. ft. concrete area under the grandstands which will provide shade most of the day. We will be using one of the grandstand luxury suites (air conditioned) for lunches, a judges' lounge and the tab room. Shuttle transportation will be available all during the event and there is plenty of parking available for those who choose to drive. Trailers will be parked only a short walk from the Judging Field and RV parking will be on the premises. There is also RV parking available for those who desire to use it.

Re: Convention Information Available Now Online!

I just saw a 4-lane drag race event from there on TV.

I trust the drag strip will not be in operation while we are there with 30,000 spectators. Although that would certainly make this National the largest in NCRS history by a wide margin.

What will we be using the 34,000 square-foot starting line tower for?

We will not be using the tower. Did not come in the deal. We are using suites on the John Force side for Tabs, Judging Office, and Judges Lunch

Shucks! I thought since Marilyn mentioned the tower, maybe Roy could add new feature to the PV test. When we proposed Road America for a National Roy seemed quite interested in the PV possibilities.

And I take it no one is using the drag strip while we are there. ???

Where was it we went (well some of us went) drag racing years ago -- Williamsburg??

I am still not hearing is ANYONE else will be racing there while we are there. The silence is deafening.

Went to Palmdale when we were in Anaheim, Maple Grove while in Seven Springs, and Milan while we were in Warren.

There will be a small event on the other side of the drag strip Thursday night. No access from our side to the event or vice versa.

Tank you. Maple Grove was what I was thinking of, but I should have remembered Mike & Dennis at Milan.

And who can forget the parts coming from underneath the Diabolical Dipstick's '62 at Anaheim. Old parts don't like "giggle gas" enhanced engines.

I was just checking out the Zmax website and noticed they have a drag racing event scheduled for Wednesday July 14. Its the final "drag and brag" of the season.

Tickets, schedules & news for NASCAR, NHRA and World of Outlaws races at Charlotte Motor Speedway, zMAX Dragway and The Dirt Track
