    Air Filter Sticker

Is this sticker on the air filter correct for a 1966 327 with 350hp. I was told they were not used until 1967. I can't find the answer in my Nolan Adams guide. Thanks for your help.

In Nolands book in the 1966 section on page 359, he shows the L79 with the sticker on the air cleaner.

It appears from the pic, that your car is a late 66, judging fron the flaw in the valve cover. It is possible that the sticker is correct. I had an early 66 and there was none. Bill.

You are right! In those pictures there are no valve cover stickers like the 1967 motor. I also have Tom Falconer, Collector's Originality Guide, 1963-1967. His illustration on page 86 has the valve cover sticker without the air filter sticker. I'm so confused.

My car is 1/20/66, F20. I know the brake master is incorrect, it looks like a 1967 master.

HOW did we get on VALVE cover stickers? The OP was about the Air Cleaner.

Because it appears that you should have one or the other, not both.

Looking at your build date, the valve covers are wrong and so is the air cleaner sticker. Bill

Bill, I agree with you in regards to the air filter sticker. I don't think it is correct and I'm going to remove it. As far as the valve covers I'm not sure why you would think they are not correct. During the 1966 model year the mold used developed a crack, page 360 Nolan Adam, The Complete Corvette Restoration & Technical Guide it is also noted in the other reference materials that I'm using. Therefore i disagree with you in that regards. Thanks for your help!

Pat, there is no question that the mold broke in 66. The thing is your car has a Jan 66 build date, the mold did not crack until months later. Bill.

Everything I read says model year, not calender year! It developed a crack in the mold, which first appeared as a vertical ridge.

It occurred during the model year, not present on early cars. Also, in the original '66 variant, the flaw is barely visible, and became more visible throughout the '67 model year. Then Service became the outlet, and the deterioration continued. Yours with the "O" in Corvette half filled is circa mid-70's flavor.

                          Re: Air Filter Sticker

I've always understood that '66 used horsepower stickers only on the valve covers, and '67 used stickers only on the air cleaner lid.

Noland notes two incorrect items in the captions for those two photos on page 359, and there are several more that aren't mentioned; those are not factory photos.

Thank you very much. I appreciate the help and that you actually answered the question. I have removed the air filter sticker and purchased the 1966 NCRS Judging Guide to help me out.
