    Re: Question for John Hinckley

    John:
Since Camaro Trim Tags are painted and C2 Corvettes are not; are the
Camaro Repro Tags harder to spot then Corvettes? I would think that
the paint on the Camaro Tags "hide" some on the imperfections of the
    tag. Correct?

The VIN derivative was stamped on Corvette frames as far back as 1953.

            Larry -

We spot the fake Camaro trim tags based on what's on them (and not on them) and based on lots of subtle factors that relate to how the different numbers and codes relate to each other that have never been published. We've developed this knowledge over the last 16 years in addition to our private database that has the "numbers" and other data on over 12,000 '67-'69 Camaros.

The trim tag fakers are getting better all the time, and we try very hard not to divulge any information that would help them.

The mistake most Camaro folks make is asking us if their trim tag is OK and makes sense with their VIN AFTER they buy the car, instead of before. The number of tag-faked and tag-swapped Camaros out there is simply astounding.

if corvettes could talk , i bet you would find a lot of skeletons
in their closets.....just how many have vin tags that do not
              match the frame #
