I've bled my brakes twice now and can't seem to get the pedal from going to the floor. Using a pressure tank. Good pressure. No air seems to be in the lines. Not sure if I've got the master cylinder piston adjusted right to the brake pedal. Can't find a proper setup procedure for this. Could this be the problem?

Re: 55 brake bleeding
Al, what kind of work was done on the brakes? a pressure bleeder should make the job easier.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: 55 brake bleeding
this is the end of a frame off restore. wheel cylinders and master cylinder were re-sleeved. all new brake lines. used 15 lbs of pressure. went from rear left to rear right. Then front right to front left last. Did this twice. No air in any of the lines that I can see in the drain tube I used on each of the bleeders. I pumped alot of fluid. Just can't get the pedal up.- Top

Re: 55 brake bleeding
Al, did you try to bench bleed the master cylinder before install?this some times helps when the system is completely dry. one of the things I sometimes see is the fittings not properly seated at cylinders or where ever they attach, stainless lines are a real bear to seat properly.( if used)New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Al, is there any resistance in the pedal when depressing, as those you may be pushing fluid?New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: 55 brake bleeding
Are the brake line fittings dry enough if you pumped the pedal and went looking for leaks you could find something?when you use the pressure bleeder at 15 psi that might not show a leak, but when you pump the pedal, theres more pressure as you pump the pedal-hence it may show a leak some where,New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: 55 brake bleeding
Did you try just pumping the brakes and manuelly bleeding the system?
The other thing you can test is the master cylinder, take the line off and plug the end of master cyl. with a brass fitting or take a old line and pinch off the end and step on pedal, it should be hard, if theres no air in the master.Last edited by Edward J.; January 13, 2010, 08:12 PM.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: 55 brake bleeding
I read a procedure and the rear left seems to be the farthest. The junction block is on the rear right and the longer line goes to the left. Then front right with front left being last. From a line length standpoint, I think I'm correct. Front right is on the other side of the crossover.- Top
