    63 FI unit

I would like to know if the fitting on the back of the dog house for power brakes is black or brass. Jan, car.

Gary, Power brake Fitting is bare brass on your Jan car or any 63 for that matter. You didn't ask but the branch T fitting on the main diaphragm cover is bare brass also
Now the PCV fitting on RR of plenum was typically cad plated although a few original blackened ones have been seen.
The 90degree fitting on top of the air meter should be cad although some guys make this fitting black which is questionable. Real early 63's may have bare brass PCV 45degree fittings.
The 90 fitting on the bottom of the enrichment diaphragm cover is cad also. The 1/8"pipe fitting that screws into the front bottom corner of the plenum is cad plated. JD

Thanks John, my pcv and air meter fittings are black. I'll leave the booster fitting brass.. Gary.

Power brake fittings can be either natural/brass or cad or zinc.

Never seen an original black PCV valve fitting. Brass or zincad.

Michael, I have never seen a cad or zinc 63 power brake fitting. But I bet you have pics to back this up.
          On second thought.
Actually I did see one plated and thought that a former restorer did it. Interesting. Thanx, JD

            Michael,
They did make black pcv values. Gary.

Yes, the 63 PCV valve was definitely a black 590. The 45* fitting that it's screwed into, though, was either natural/brass or zinc plated brass.

Michael, How about an educated guess when you think the fitting went from bare brass to cad or zinc plated. JD
