do all 58's have that rear reflector below the tail light?

the small round reflector below the tail light..do all of them have them or not saw some in pictures that don't have them and was curious.

j58s100168 was the last reported without them, while j58s100286 was the first 58 reporting rear reflectors. so only the first few have the reflectors.

wayne, your correct! only cars at the beginning of the 58 run came WITHOUT reflectors.

Ok guys the vin number on my 58 is J58S108524

and like I said mine doesn't have them and doesn't show signs they were covered up.

bought it from the 2nd owner who bought it in 75 who I know personally because his son works with me so I know he didn't modify it and cover the reflectors and like I said it doesn't show signs of being covered.

Brandon, I'd look long and hard at the inside of the rear fenders, should be raw glass without a filled/glassed in hole evident. Without a photo of it when new, good luck with convincing Judges etc. Could of had rear top panels replaced 'back in the day' long before 75.

day I brought it home brakes on one side were grabbing so towed her the 3hr drive home.

2nd owner bought it as it is in this picture in 75, it was already painted brown and brown interior! ugly huh? and hopped up the little 283 with edlebrock high rise intake, holley, double hump heads etc..it's pretty stout actually sure surprised me for a 283.

original color is regal tourquise, I even have a picture from 1st owners wife she sent me when it was new (front shot) under the brown you can see the regal tourquise easy..and I think with that color it had to have charcoal interior.

I'm guessing that since they built over 8000 cars with the reflector before yours was built and that yours had been repainted at least once before it was 15 years old, someone removed them.

Brandon, strip the paint on the inside and outside of the rear fender where the reflectors were and I think you'll have your answer.

brandon, if getting the reflectors other than from a place such as corvette central or paragon be aware that several passenger cars use the same reflector. the difference is the corvette reflector has a 3/4" longer mounting shaft.

Lots of 58 cars that had rear fender damage were repaired without the rear reflectors and many others were removed for the "smooth" look.
