Bair's C2 Repro Half Shaft, Drive Shaft

Has anyone compared Bair's repro half shaft and drive shafts for C2's. They say they are made of extruded steel and no grease fittings. Restoring my 67 for judging and mine are badly pitted. Or...any recommendations?

    Thanks...Gary

Gary, Brian and Yogi are usually in Florida. Maybe they can bring a set for us to see. I am looking forward to seeing your tire tub/lid.

        Gary,

I have seen half-shafts on cars with a finish I can only describe as "turned", where the body of the shaft has a grain that runs around the circumference of the shaft. I can't tell from the picture but these look like they may be those same shafts. You might check with Nick Culkowski for his thoughts, but I do not believe this is correct for any car, especially a big block.

Gary, I'm no expert in the field of steel but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night. Actually I worked for US Steel National Tube Division in Gary back in the 60's.

The original tubes are what's called "Cold Rolled". They have a weld seam the entire length of the tube. They are not as strong as extruded if made from the same steel but the Cold Rolled is more than enough for 500HP. The ones Bair's sells are excellent pieces but won't pass strict judging standards.

C2 Repro Half Shafts; LIC has good ones

The standard suspension (not shot peened) half shafts that LIC sells have the longitudinal seam and I believe they would receive full credit during judging.

I did ask Bairs to bring some for me to look at. Maybe some of you would like to take a look. Thanks for all your responses. Gary
