    70 heater hose clamps

The JM indicates a 1-3/16" tower clamp with a DMC logo and dichromate finish for the larger heater hose. Is DMC different than wittek and what does the wash look like?

I have a pair of 1-3/16" wittek clamps and I know they are not original to the car.

    Thanks!

The 1-3/16 inch clamp has the usual Wittek logo on it as well as the letters DCM. DCM = dichromate wash. I will have to look at mine, but I think they are DCM, and not DMC. DMC is a group that plays what they call music. BTW: It was employees of Wittek who told me of the dichromate wash, and the stated purpose was to distinguish one size from the other. It was very important to have the clamp sized correctly, and also to have the diameter of the tightening screw correct so that if the clamp was over tightened the screw would sheer before the pipe collapsed.

The wash is a pale yellow color. The only place I found it left on my original tower clamps was under the indentation for the screw, where it presses against the hose. Even the unused originals I have (Not for sale, as the expression goes) have only a very faint tint of yellow -- but they are over 30-years old. I know that because I have had them for that long.

It is DCM, but my manual (which I think is the most recent) CLEARLY, and erroneously, states DMC.

Thanks Terry! Finding those will be tough. I have a nice pair of wittek clamps 1-3/16". I will put those on until maybe I find the right ones with the DCM.

            Terry,

Excellent pic. Thanks. The clamp pictured is 1-1/4" and the Jm says 1-3/16". I am thinking the 1-3/16" is correct because even it needs to close up quite a bit for a 3/4" hose.

The picture is what I have a photo of. I am not saying that is the correct size for your application. It is however the correct color -- and that was the initial question. The picture also confirms the DCM, and not the "music" group.

I had intentions of getting into the garage this weekend, and even managed to dig the snow out enough to get to the service door -- but that is as far as I got. I have on my list to look at the TI coil capacitor and the hose clamps. I want to reconfirm the sizes in the TIM&JG, and I hope to get the time to do that before I leave for Florida.

Thanks Terry. I kinda figured as much.

Now I will begin my search for a correct pair.
