    Holley Carb Restoration-Part 12- Body Assembly 1

Well getting back to the carb assembly, after a lag in fixing my wife's computer.

    Here's my setup:

Sometimes everyone needs a third hand for the secondary diaphragm assembly:

Makes it pretty easy to center the diaphragm on the body (with a little Sly-Glide on the mating surfaces):

Well after a couple of hours, I at least got all the jewelry on the body:

Took a little while to figure out how to put that choke rod in. Start from the top and then snap it into the little plastic guide.

Well this project is going pretty slow. But I know that you married guys know, that there are priorities Hope to have this carb finished by the time I go to Kissimmee, maybe I'll see you there.

    Having fun in the meantime.

i do it a little different as i grab the diaphram stem in the bench vice letting the housing rest on the top of the vice jaws as that keeps everything in place while installing the screws

      Jerry,
Should not the diaphragm with the open ended slots for the screws be closed holes?

I might be all wet as I'm going by memory ...........

        Gene,

I think all the replacements have the open ended slots, and all of my Holley books show the open ended slots.

Maybe the originals had closed holes, and they changed the design to prevent ruining the diaphragm by catching it on the screw. I can remember way back, ruining one but don't remember if it was the closed or open design

I see you are on the reserve judges list at Kissimmee with me. So I'll see you there.

if you oil the screws they will not grab the diaphragm. i don't ever remember the holes for the screw not being open ended.
