    63 Idler pulley

The idler pulley on my L84 has a bad case of the wobbles. I'm thinking I'll replace it, but I'm not sure if the pulley should be black or silver on a late April car. Anybody know?

    Thanks, Mike

    Mike,

There are a lot of pic's of early production engines with an unpainted pulley but most were painted black in later production.

The bracket was always painted black.

Thanks Michael, my current one is black, but Paragon only had a silver one. ! I guess I'll look for a black one.

If it is your bearing that is making it wobble, it is the same as the water pump bearing. Easy to find and replace locally.
        It's a good life!

          Paul,

Its not the bearing, the pulley seems to be canted slightly on the shaft. I think it was probably a low-quality repop.

I thought that someone (Corvette Central/Dr. Rebuild??) makes a repair/rebuild kit for these.
