70-71 exhaust tips

FYI Ecklers selling steel, flash chromed exhaust tips. I don't how well they compare with the ones RF is making. How would they judge?

I would suspect that they are manufactured by Richard. I do not think that Eckler's manufacturers anything, they just take your order and, on most items, drop ship from the manufacturer

That makes three of us...interiors are the only repro parts I can think of that really had or have had more than one manufacturer. Years ago, door panels were being made by Eckler's, Corvette America (or whatever they're calling themselves these days), Al Knoch, and another vendor or two selling lower quality door panels.

When I was shopping eons back, there were maybe 4 or 5 distinctly different door panels on the market, and they were NOT all created equal. All of them bore some resemblance to the originals, but none of them were exactly correct. At the time, Eckler's was still making stuff, and their door panel was about 95% correct. (I have a story heard from Al Knoch about that, but I can't repeat it on the air. )

But, I expect that may have changed by now. As Dick said, I doubt Eckler's makes anything anymore. Once they were sold, they became a marketing retailer of other people's parts...like most vendors these days.

they look good. i have some rechromed originals. the welds on the repops look alot better than the welds on mine. last set of nos originals i saw on ebay brought $1250.00 i have one nice original 70 tip and the weld does not look that good either. before i paid 1200 for some i would buy those repops. they look good to me.
when i get my 70 judged i have the gardner after market lt1 exhaust on the car. it looks as good as the original. i will see how that scores. they used my original front pipes to copy and did a real good job.

Ken , I brought a set of tips from Richard Fortier , I plan on having my car judged in the spring , I dont know if anyone has been through the judging with his tips, I would say they're as close as your going to get.

He is giving ncrs members a discount so you can save a few bucks.
