    71 Alternator wire harness bracket

Does anybody know where I can get the bracket that bolts to the back of the alternator and supports the wire harness?

I just bought one from Paragon Vintage for 20 bucks. As far as I can tell no one is reproducing them so you need to hunt up a used one. The guy I spoke to at Paragon did say he had a couple of them. Good luck.

If memory serves, the bracket IS reproduced by Lectric Limited and they share the tooling output with M&H Electric. Catch-22, it comes as an integral part of their reproduction engine wiring harness assy's.

You can find them on scrap yard vehicles. The last one I picked up was used on a Chevy step van...

I stand corrected, Jack you are correct Lectric does have them as part of their harness however when I asked then to sell it separately they would not do it.

          Thanks guys.

I'll try Paragon and if that doesn't pan out, I'll do some snooping through a scrap yard or two.........

That's what I'd expect... You need to see things through the eyes of a harness mfgr!

They have this/that in the form of parts (connectors, pins, brackets, wires, tape) and they're in the business of making/selling harness assy's. Their drawing system is oriented to documenting small components made/acquired in BULK to turning out finished harness products.

The finished harness assy's are costed and priced for ultimate sale. The components are simply costed for inventory valuation purposes and not priced for individual sale. A request for this/that 'bit' involves going to inventory, hand pulling the item, packing/shipping and somewhere along the line, a sale price has to be 'generated'.

For a 25-cent to $1.59 part, the effort takes FAR more time/effort than the transaction is worth! Essentially, it's a 'nuissance' task...
