68 has original soft top but rear plastic is a little foggy, method to clear it up?

shows it in the video, I read how to tell original top and mine has the straps on the inside, I'm pretty sure it's the original so would like to clear up the plastic instead of buying a new top, any advice on what products/method to use?

    thanks

Try Vinylex by Lexol. This is a vinyl cleaner that I used on my soft top rear window and it is now crystal clear.

Think I might need something more like a polish to take out light scratches.

      thanks

        Brandon,

Old school methods used toothpaste. I never tried it but I heard it works. Not sure which flavor is best though.

Seriously....try this on some other test piece first. I have had great results using Mothers Aluminum Polish on clear as well as colored plastic. It's a soft white paste in a can. I use it to restore all kinds of plastic, tail light lenses, clear headlight covers on late model cars, etc. I haven't tried it on a soft-top rear window before but I bet it'd work. Just try on a test piece first to be safe. There is just enough abrasive to clear up light scratches.

There is also a product called "Plastix"(sp) that I have used but it doesn't remove scratches.....more of a cleaner/polish.

Brandon, I have a small arsenal of products that I have used with some excellent results for removing haze/ fine scratching and restoring clarity to both soft top rear glass and hardtop plexi-glass. In order of my preference :

          1. LP Aero Plastics Acrylic polish and sealant which is used in the aircraft industry for windshields. (Aero Plastics Inc. Jeannette, Pa.)

          2. Zaino Brothers Plastic Magic www.zainobros.com

          3. PlastX by Meguiar's. Available OTC most everywhere.

          4. 210 Plus Plastic scratch remover which is available from the Hardtop shop or Sumner laboratories Boston, Ma 1-800-542-8656

After looking at your video, any of these products should work for that. Good luck.

Your local airport FBO will probably have "Novus" products, used on plastic/Lexan/Plexiglas aircraft windows, and Meguiar's has a pair of products (a cleaner and a polish) made specifically for convertible back windows.

Thanks guys, I'll look into trying to find or order some of the products listed because that foggy plastic has always bothered me since I got it!
