You can also get a power passenger seat in a 2010 Z06. In an optional package.Last edited by Tom H.; January 7, 2010, 07:45 AM.Tom Hendricks

Re: Warranty repair question - can I get the original part back ?
GM's position on the use of Nitrogen Gas in tires from the service manual:
General Motors does not oppose the use of purified nitrogen as an inflation gas for tires. We expect the theoretical benefits to be reduced in practical use due to the lack of an existing infrastructure to continuously facilitate inflating tires with nearly pure nitrogen. Even occasional inflation with compressed atmospheric air will negate many of the theoretical benefits.
Given those theoretical benefits, practical limitations, and the robust design of GM original equipment TPC tires, the realized benefits to our customer of inflating their tires with purified nitrogen are expected to be minimal.- Top

One of the local shops here is still trying to charge 5 bucks a tire- Top

I have to say I am a believer. Try it once and you'll see a pretty consistant reading on your pressure.Tom Hendricks

I've been using the old-fashioned 78% nitrogen mix on all my toys for more than four decades and get the same results as the 95% nitrogen crowd and it doesn't cost me 5 bucks a tire.- Top

I always used the old fashioned stuff too until General Motors started putting low tire pressure warning on everything. Now everytime it gets cold the monitors go off. Drives me crazy. Like they say, out of sight, out of mind.
Never had to worry about that on any of my old cars !!Tom Hendricks

Re: Warranty repair question - can I get the original part back ?
The difference in expansion rates between nitrogen and air is extremely small. Tires are not typically filled with pure nitrogen as the air inside them during mounting was not evacuated before filling, so most likely there is still only 80-90% nitrogen. This incremental % of nitrogen will not measurably affect pressure rise as compared to old fashioned straight air.
Further- static tire pressures measured when cold are to a certain degree 'reverse engineered' by the OEM to ensure that the final operating pressures when at normal operating temperatures are achieved.
If it were true that nitrogen expands at a rate substantially less than air, a time may not achieve the desired running pressures on the highway, ie always running too low.- Top

Re: Warranty repair question - can I get the original part back ?
I took the pressure down to 32 PSI and all seems to be fine. I have always followed the label on tires so I didn't even think about looking at the door label.
Thanks for the tip.- Top

Mark, I worked in a chevrolet dealship for about 10 yrs, as one poster said they hold the parts a given period of time, the factory rep. for gm would sometimes float around a certain zone to the gm dealerships and would audit warrenty claims, this was a inspection of the replaced parts. once done the parts were scrapped, so my advice is for you to talk to the parts counter guy and ask him to maybe save the old parts, maybe even bring him a cup of coffee.
