Back last summer and through most of the early fall, I posted numerous messages on the forum regarding non-working wipers, wiper door and headlight doors on a '68. Many members replied with ideas and suggestions based on their experiences. I followed up on every one of them but the problem persisted. Then I got a PM from NCRSer Richard Coolidge in Tennessee, offering to assist and giving me his phone number to contact him directly. For several weeks thereafter, Richard and I spoke several times a week as he guided me through various steps to sort out both the electrical and vacuum sides of the system. After going over things several times, we concluded that there was a leak at the wiper door vacuum actuator, which I didn't detect in several tests. So finally, in December, after replacing the actuator, the wiper door and headlight doors pop open and close like they were new! You might say this clearly was a case of my being too close to the problem and not seeing what was right in front of my nose, but I am convinced that Richard Coolidge is a genius!!! His patient and always on-target guidance was so good it was like he was standing beside me in the shop! I know the time he spent on the phone with me was time he wasn't billing customers, so it's even more greatly appreciated. Just one more reason why NCRS is such a great organization and this forum is so valuable. Thanks again to all who replied to my posts, and especially to Richard for all his time and valuable knowledge, and his willingness to share it!
