    C1 Dash Insert SS Trim

I am getting close to intalling the dash pad in my 59 and am looking for a source for the SS trim that borders the dash insert. I know they are hard to come by and none of the usual aftermarket suppliers have them. Does anyone have a source I can try?
    Thanks, Sully

It's easier to just buy a used insert assembly and restore it. Used ones generally don't bring that much on e bay. Finding the stainless trim is near impossible. Rich

Thnaks Rich. I just went to ebay but at this point what they have is Corvette Central which, of course, has no trim but I will keep looking. If anyone else has any other ideas where to look I would appreciate the iinfo. Sully

        Bob,

If you know anyone attending the NCRS Winter Regional
in Florida in a couple of weeks, maybe they could find one.
I plan to attend and would be willing to help out.

              Jerry,
I looked at the site but didn't see "cove replacements." Is it under another article?

the article doesn't indicate a source for ss trim....but in detail deals with using existing trim

I was just looking at the R.A.R.E. website and there is a lot of good info there. It also looks like he could be a source. I will call him in the morning.
                  Thanks for the site. Sully

Re: C1 Dash Insert SS Trim

Question ..... is the insert SS the same for '58 through '62?
All my reference materials are in Maine and I'm here in frigid central Florida.

Re: C1 Dash Insert SS Trim

the only difference between 58 and 62 was the method of attaching the stainless, soldered / braised vs spot welded

Thanks, Doug. What would be the method for a '59?

all of the 59's i've ever done were the soldered / braised variety

I believe there is also a difference in the backing plate for the later years. I just finished restoring one for my '61 and I needed to obtain a backing plate and stainless trim.

The backing plate for the later years utilized 3 mounting studs and the earlier ones only had 2.
