Any ideas of how to put the grill inserts in which I like without drilling holes in the body? something a little cleaner than double sided tape!

just toying with the idea of putting them on mine I do like that feature the 69 had option wise, makes those gills stand out.

68's received a poor review from Car & Driver magazine. You can read it at http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...oupe-road_test At the end of that year however, it was Car & Driver's Car of the Year as voted by the general public.

As for the chrome vents, make small holes and find a small diameter bolt with a large head ..... that works just fine for me. I take them off for judging. The other options that appeared in 69, such as side pipes, were never something I wanted as I like to be able to talk in the car and listen to the radio when I'm driving. The off road exhaust is loud enough for me. Others might have a different opinion, however but I still have my hearing.

The one year only parts make it a challenge but rewarding when you're able to find that rare, hard to find part.

Could you post a picture of your top flight 68's engine bay, mine is an l36 also so I'm sure it could help me out a little.

Key, especially with a bigblock is late production, Many fixes were implemented to fix overheating issues with a bigblock. Also worth mentioning, if you happen to be broad in the shoulders, the door panel on the '68 has a built in edge that intrudes on the drivers (and passengers) shoulder room. I used a '68 for some light autocrossing for a short time and changed the drivers door panel to a '69 to get more space.

The KEY issue with a '68 is there were numerous running changes making some of the parts 'one year only' and hard to come by...

Is that flash chrome or triple plated chrome? It doesn't really look quiet triple plated luster but it looks above flash.

Looks very nice, just curious which it is it's hard to tell.

thanks for the picture! very useful to me.

Correcto mundo Bill. For sure the '68 gets cramped due to the poor door panel design. I also find that the steering wheel on the '68 is a larger diameter (and possibly deeper dished?) than later C3's. Anyway, feels like driving a bus. I installed a later model wheel in mine for driving, original goes back for judging. The seat back rake in the '68 seems greater than in the later C3's altough I have not specifically compared it to a '69. All up, for driver comfort, I prefer driving my '64 as compared to the '68. But then the '09 car isn't at all shabby plus it has A/C!
                  Best regards,

I do perfer the disc brakes and te gills on the 65-66 better but out of a 63 and a 64 I wouldn't care which I ended up with.
                    Brandon,

I assume you mean body build date?
That was a Tuesday. I was 4 days old.

What are the last 4 digits of the VIN?

Re: As a owner of a 68, to those that bought them new where they really any issues?

I have a original owner 68, built in FEB. In trying to remember what has been wrong with it all these years one item was a early problem. Had nothing to do with the factory in St Louis where it was built though. The QJET was replaced when it was a couple years old because it was leaking fuel. I replaced the replacement QJet in 1974 with a Holley spreadbore double pumper 650 6210 that is still on the car.
The center storage compartment light is disconnected so it will not run the battery down.
Still running the original 327/350 engine, 4 speed M21 is original as well as the 3:70 posi-traction rear end. Original aluminum radiator was replaced with a copper replacement in 1975 because of leaks.
Original rotors still in use, original master cylinder, and using calipers sleeved with stainless steel and silicone fluid.
Has just over 98,000 miles on it and just really continue to enjoy the car, only wish I drove it more.
Will I ever sell it, no.
My first Corvette was a 64 convertible with air, 327/300 4 speed, and 3:08 rear. Drove it from San Diego to Dallas and on to Glynco, GA and back to Dallas in the summer of 1969. People can say what they want about the 1964 year, mine was a great car. Recently located it. Current owner has had it since 1974 and it is not for sale, I truley wish it was.

I bought a 1968 427/435 convertible new in July 1968. The dealer ordered the car for himself but relented and sold it to me. One major problem was the three two barrel carbs would stick wide open, which provided for a fun time. If I remember GM got sued a number of times over this. The only other problemn was shutting off the car. Gm sent notice to let the clutch out after turning the ignition off while holding the brake on . Otherwise it was a great car.
