    66 427 425 oil canister restoration

Looking to restore my oil canister, searching the forums and the only name/company is Ken Hansen. Does anyone have contact info. or know additional companies that could preform this service?

Why not just buy a NOS canister? I had two of them and sold one on Ebay last year for only about $25. According to the Chevrolet parts catalogs all 56-67 Corvettes use the same one, GM # 5574535 in Gr. 1.837.
What is the bolt marking on your original canister?

the 56-57 can is longer than the 58 thru 67 cans. you could use a 56-7 can on the 66 427 but you'd have to use the 56-7 oil filter element if doing such.stick with the 58 up can on your 66. mike

$25.00 for an NOS cannister is a steal.

yes, all corvettes 56 thru 67 had metal oil cannisters enclosing a disposable filter element. it was popular back in the 70' etc to get rid of the canister and replace it with an element that was a spin-on much like today's engines. . mike

Oil canister restoration; Another vote for Orindales

I'll give another vote for Ken Hansen = Orindales. He did mine for a very fair price and it came out great. I would go back to Ken in a heartbeat if I needed another done.

...and some engines used a canister-style oil filter AFTER 1967 even though the 68+ blocks were changed to facilitate the new spin-on filter adapter. In this case, a special adapter was used to allow the use of a canister-style filter on a block designed for spin-on.

So, what were those applications? Trucks and some taxi and police cars.

David, do you still have the second NOS canister that you mentioned above for sale. If so let me know.

                            My bolt marking is AP.

                            Thanks

I don't see where anyone has mentioned whether they use silk screening on their restorations or a decal. Also, be careful of the aftermarket cans. Make certain it is NOS, as they repros are only about half the thickness.
