c1 Frame stencil location

I am need the exact location for the frame stencil on 1961. I checked the previous posts and it is confusing. I found the "hole", but how far away from the hole do I start and and how far up from the bottom would the bottom number be? One posting says the first number will be the year, but it looks like it would be the month?

The frame stencil location is not critical to the degree you are requesting. It needs to be on the outside frame rail approximately where the drivers rear end sits. It should be upside down as the frame was upside down when the stencil was applied right side up. You can imagine the factory worker slapping the stencil to the frame and rolling on the paint. I doubt they gave much thought to vertical or horizontal placement. I have judged and been judged (62) many times and at no time was the location of the frame stencil that critical.

I am attaching a picture of an original frame stencil that is on a 1960. The stencil location was in the general area described by Greg.

Above, you mentioned "rolling on the paint". Was the frame stencil paint applied with a roller or sprayed?

The frame stencil paint was applied with a roller, not sprayed or brushed on.
