Good Evening All and happy new year.
I was about to start aligning the hood as I try to align the front clip before bonding. The rivet that hold the top of the hood hinge reinforcement in place on top of the fender skirt is flat but not flush yet the hood hinge itself and the shim are flat without a recess and the fibreglass on top is not recessed either.
At some point I thought I saw a U shaped shim to accomodate the rivet but I don't see such a thing in the AIM or any catalogues. I drilled one of the rivets out to confirm this was not recessed. (Rivet and reinforcement AIM pg 376; hood hinge and shim AIM pg 373).
I don't see how the hinge would be tightened down without distorting something. What am missing ?? The obvious solution is just to leave off the rivet to provide the flat surface but I know there was a rivet there.
Thanks for the help.
