Spark Plug Shielding

I have a 1968 original small block w/AC. Did this motor originally come with spark plug shielding? None on the car when I bought it 28 years ago, but did find remnants of shield brackets attached to exhaust manifold.

If the car was originally built with a radio, it had the full complement of ignition shielding as shown in the U69 section in the Assembly Manual.

If it had a factory-installed radio, then it had the shielding. Even if it didn't have a factory-installed radio it MIGHT have had the shielding or some components of the radio interference suppression system.

Shielding was often removed by owners, so finding it missing is quite common.
