    Clutch noise

I have a 1966 427/425 and had the transmission out for service. After it was reinstalled, I get a rubbing sound, especially as the car decellerates until it is fully stopped. If I push the clutch in and the car is rolling the sound does not go away. If the clutch is pushed in and you shift to a lower gear without letting the clutch out, the rubbing increases. It really sounds like something is contacting with every revolution of the transmission imput shaft, and it is not there for a full revolution, it is flap, flap, flap. If the transmission is in neutral and the car is rolling, the noise slowly stops. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jerry Nutt

Jerry, check archives.... sounds like you may have a fork not properly seated in the throwout bearing flange . I guess several things could cause this problem...hope you don't have to remove that transmission !
