I am not too familiar with the 68's, and a better picture would help, but this appears to me to possibly be part of the shielding for making grounding connections to either the air cleaner or possibly the tach cable where it goes into the distributor. I think someone mentioned this is your thread the other day. Much like the claw looking clips that was on the top shielding of the C2 cars, that went into the slots in the upper shield marked for carb, and FI. I could very well be wrong about this, and will be interested to see what else is added to this thread.

It’s goes on front of the distributor ignition shielding. It touches the air cleaner lid for grounding purposes.

I can kinda picture it but does anyone have a picture of their engine bay that shows this?

I went ahead and had it chromed with the other pieces but at the time had no clue where it went! just not sure how it stays seated and secured..
