Clutch bellhousing front cover part number

Can someone please confirm a part number for me?
    1962 Corvette w/327/340hp 4 speed warner.
Clutch bellhousing front cover. I dont find it in the AIM or service manual or in any other post in the archive.
I believe it should be a 3734908 but do not find confirmation of that.
    Thanks.

The part number for the flywheel UNDERPAN (what you call a cover) is 3704923 (Gr. 0.679) for 55-62 PASS., CORVETTE (8 cyl.)(exc. A.T.) as shown in my 1963 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (effective Oct. 1962). There is also a special note which is "Trim excess metal to fit as necessary".

GM # 3734908 (Gr. 0.679) is the part number for the clutch housing EXTENSION which has the same special note.

These same part numbers also appear in my 1957 Chevrolet parts catalog but without the special note.

The attached is the part that I am trying to identify.
According to Paragon Corvette label, they call it a "clutch bell housing front cover".
They id it as original part number 3734908. I cant seem to positive id it as fitting a '62 327.
      Thanks

My 53-76 Corvette parts book (effective Sept. 75), list P/N 3734908 (GR-0.679) as correct for 55-62 Corvette 8 cyl., with the description as EXTENSION, clutch housing flywheel w/two indented throughs on surface (Note 1).

Note 1- Trim excess metal to fit as necessary

Paragon's label is not technically correct. As Lynn states GM # 3734908 is an EXTENSION. The UNDERPAN (GM # 3704923 ) covers the bottom of the clutch. Here is a picture from the illustration page from one of my many vintage Chevrolet parts catalogs (about 55 of them).

That's what I need is the extension. I found an NOS one on ebay for $14.95 and bought it.
I think the guy that put mine on took the note to "cut to fit" a bit too far. The picture shows what was left of it when I took it off. About a third of it is missing.

This is not "cut-to-fit". What this is is an extension modified so that it can be removed without also removing the starter.

There is no such thing as a "4sp bell housing"----------------ALLLLLLLLLLL manual trannys will bolt up to the same bell housing.

The below 2 pieces fit ALLLLLLLLLL Chevy open bottom V8 bell housings, beginning in 1955. That includes Vettes up through 62, pass cars up through 63 and trucks up through about 1970.

Here is a comparrison of a cast iron and alum open bottom housing. Cars used the iron version 55-62. Vettes used the iron version 55-59. Hi-perf 1960-63 348-409 cars used the open bottom alum version and ALLLL 60-62 Vettes used the alum version. Trucks used a VERY similar iron version up through about 1970.

Well, thanks to all of you again. I really appreciate any and all input into this project. Your knowlege is amazing. I have now received my CD of The Corvette Restorer for 1961-62 and will be examining it soon. I am sure I can make use of it.
