AIM Washer Definitions

In the 73 AIM they describe some washes as lock washers and some as "P" Washers.

I do not recall anytime a washer being described as a flat washer


Can someone explain what the difference of a "P" washer vs a lock washer.

The "P" washer designation is a flat washer. I personally have no idea why they call it out this way. I would guess the "P" stands for something, and I have often wondered about this myself.

P is used for "Plain washer".
