    Shipping overseas----Denmark

What is the least expensive way to ship to Denmark?

A member wants a pair of '69 headrest seat backs, the package is 50 lbs, 38 X 20 X 9 and the best rate I've found is FedEx international economy @ $370.00.

    Thanks,
    George

USPS works well except you CAN NOT get insurance or tracking.
With UPS you pay a little more but you also get piece of mind with tracking and insurance. Priceless...

USPS have a track and confirm service - no you will not get the info on which corner your package is any minute but you will get the info when it has left the US and entered your country (e.g. in customs and afterwards when it is released etc) - does the trick. Insurance no, but i have never done this; shipped 3 cars over the pond without any issues

            Thanks all,
I did not look into USPS because the recipient advised that UPS and or FedEx were the best in his opinion.
I will contact him with this information.
            Thanks again,
            George

You can get insurance on USPS for international but trying to collect is an ugly joke!

I shipped a generator to England and when it arrived, it looked like someone had played basket ball with the package... The receipient can't initiate the claim, only the shipper can claim damages and then they have to send out a 'local' representative to view/inspect/confirm damage.

The situation was compounded because once a package gets to the UK, it can be routed by Royal Mail or their sub-contractor, Parcel Force, for final delivery. So, another 3-ring circus on who actually delivered it and who should inspect the damage took place.

Once all that was done, I received a BEDSHEET of a form intended to compute whether it was cheaper to have the item repaired or replaced. All of the question fields asked for rates in British pounds sterling with in-country source(s) for verification. Good luck digging up that information from the US...heck that why the folks overseas buy from us here; they don't have local sources for many of these parts!

In the end, I simply threw away all the stupid 'official' papers and sent my guy the parts it would take to repair the damage...

Next, I've had two cases where a package was lost going to Poland. In both cases, once the receipient had the USPS parcel number in hand, the Polish PTT was able to back track and locate the package within days!

Both times, the packages had been mis-placed on inventory shelves in Polish customs vs. actually being lost by the Polish PTT. While still an emerging third world nation, the Poles are NOT shabby in their due diligence!!!

Last, when the USPS web site quotes you a transit time, remember what that means! It's the time for the package to get from the US to the destination nation's customs facility. From there, through customs and out to the locall PTT for actual delivery can be a MUCH longer time period!!!

I would use the USPS with less weight and more pkg.'s

I have frequently shipped overseas using UPS and I believe I have used FedEx, both with no problem and I do not have an account with either company. Have also used USPS insured and never had a problem but always figured if I had a claim it was going to be futile trying to collect. Too many hands in the pie once it leaves the USPS system. Like Jack mentioned.
                  Best regards,
