    1959 Generator ?

Does a early 1959 Corvette 270 HP car have aluminum end frames on the generator? Were they painted?
    Thanks.

In 1959 all but the 290hp used the 1102043 generator. It had an aluminum unpainted drive end plate and a cast iron commutator end plate painted semi-flat black.

      John,
Can you elaborate on the 58-59 1102059 generator? There seems to be very little info it's components. As far as I can tell from the parts catalog, it has the cast 404 drive end frame and the big bearing commutator end frame, but is it closed end or have a freese plug in it?
the reason I ask is that I have a gen configured like that but it has no tag.

The 2059 had cast iron D.E. and C.E. plates. They both were painted semi flat black. Both had a 3 1/4 inch distance between the center of the mounting hole and the center of the bearing hole. The 2059 used a bearing at both ends. The early 2059 had a cast in(integral)bearing housing on the C.E. This was changed to an open end with a silver (zinc or cadmium) plated freeze plug. This happened relatively quickly(the bearing can be a real pain to remove on the early version) .The D.E. most often had a slight "flat" spot on the outer edge.I hope this helps.

          Thanks,
Looks like I may have an early version of the 059, or some other application that used the same end frames.
