    Jerry,
Remember a while back we conversed on the small wire rod that lifts the primary bowl vent as to finish. Well here is some more info to muddy the waters. I checked my silver 67 and it is black. My white 67 also L79 is dull silver color maybe zinc. It was not in as nice shape as my silver car. So when I restored them I maintained each as they were.

Silver 67 is 17,xxx build and white 67 is under 500 production which may or may not make a difference.

I just wanted to add to the "small details" we can be so sick about............
    Keep having fun!

the main body has a lot more material so maching some off is not a proplem but the base plate is thin and pressing it flat without machining is a better option. aluminum melting point is low so it does not take much temp to get it soft enough to press it flat

        Re: Holley Carb Restoration-Part 11-Throttle Body Assembly-Part2

Gerard - first, great thread! I have a question for you regarding the assembly or installation of the throttle plates (primary & secondary). I am rebuilding my 4150 (2818-1) Holley - I got a rebuild kit from Holley. My question is what is the correct way to install the throttle plates? If the screws are loose the plates will center themselves in the venturi. But if I do that then there is a lot - an awful lot of the rectangular idle slots exposed. I am trying to get the exposed portion of the slots so they are almost square to the eye. In order to do that it is necessary to loosen the throttle plate screws and position the plates off center - which then creates a considerable crescent shaped air opening on the opposite end of the plate. So.... my question is..... when installing the throttle plates do I allow them to center themselves in the venturi or do I off set them to minimize the exposure of the idle slots.

OK, I looked for more of Gerard's 12 part how to thread and found one where he discusses the installation of the throttle plates - he references a Holley 4 page tech bulletin but it is out dated - I found the updated revision - good stuff. Hope this helps others. https://documents.holley.com/199r9978rev1.pdf

And.... I found the answer to my question...... the throttle plates need to be centered in the bores. Is this forum great or what!

          Ed,

I'm glad my Holley Restoration threads helped you, I had a lot of fun doing them. They eventually turned into a 10 page Restorer Article in the the Spring 2011 Restorer. I'll send you my draft copy of the article with the pictures. Don Hooper sent me your e-mail address.

Hi- Can anyone recommend a supplier where I can order correct replacement gaskets for a Holly 3810 carb fuel bowls? I have a rebuild kit from Holly but it came with the blue gaskets for the fuel bowls. Any recommendations appreciated.

            Thanks,

            Kevin O'Donohue
