Round mufflers on a '62 300 powerglide?

Hi,
I have a set of Allen's round off-road reproduction mufflers that I want to install on my '62. Here is my question; I know that RPO 441 was an option in '62, but was it available with the 300HP glide combo? I'm thinking of having the car judged again and want to know if I'd take a hit?

I think the off road mufflers could be ordered with any combination but don't know that for a fact. I think it would have been highly unusual for a 250 or 300 horse car to have them ordered by the purchaser especially with a powerglide and for sure discouraged by any dealer at the time. You would most likely get some flack from judges but may not get a deduct unless they know for sure what the restrictions are. You should email the team leader for 62s, Dave Heitzman for his opinion.

As an aside I have a Top Flight 62 340 with the round off road mufflers. While it sounds pretty mean they can be a little annoying arround town and on the highway. If I had to do it over I think I would have gone with the standard mufflers. Keep in mind though I am 61 now and my priorities are different than 40 years ago when there would have been no doubt about using the off road mufflers.
