THANK YOU:When We Were Young With Our Corvettes

    All:

Book sales now exceed 60 with no advertisement other than here (did I say that) until January Driveline, and maybe a review in Auto Restorer.

Whether you bought the book or just read and enjoyed the stories here, thank you for your interest and support... the feed-back has been tremendous...which makes the time invested gratifying and worthwhile.

    Have a very Merry Christmas.

    Bill

Re: THANK YOU:When We Were Young With Our Corvettes

Bill: I got the book and read it already. Even though I read every story here on the board I still wanted to read them again. I did not know there was to be another book, I can't wait. Tell me one thing, of the many girls you dated it sounded to me as though there might have been one you married, am I right?? Of course, if i'm right will you tell me which one??
    Thanks for a good read.

      Thank You.

Have you ever heard of the "hungry i" and Vaugh Meader?

Bill: I not only know who Vaugh Meader is, I still have the album.
I did not know of the hungry-i, so I looked it up. I was in Sunnyvale in the late 60's and I think it was already closed. So I missed that too.
You have answered my question with a question. Which one did you marry.

          Jack:

The hungry i was in San Francisco and one of these girls was there with me to see Meader in early 1963 before JFK was assassinated, spelling the end of his career.

The hunger i had a huge mural of a nude male in the ladies room with his.....covered with a hinged fig leaf. If the fig leaf was raised a siren would be sounded in the theater alerting everybody. The girl who next exited the ladies room would be welcomed with a round of applause, much to her embarrassment.

You may have to read book 2 because I won't be posting more stories here.

Bill: I guess it's just you and me on this post. I think I know the answer to my question, maybe it will be confirmed in book 2, chapter 4.
There is a bar in Sandusky, OH (800 Club) that has the same type of mural and siren, maybe that is where he got the idea, I will have to ask the owner.
Do you feel posting the stories hurt sales? Some might think they read all the stories, I found them to be somewhat changed, plus I forgot parts of the old posts from 9 - 12 months ago.
I still can't figure out how you remember all this stuff, did you keep a journal or something?? Hope you had a great Christmas.

              Jack:

I think it was a real benefit to have posted the stories and begin building a network of interest. And the stories in the book are complete vs. fragments posted here. While our Moderators have been very understanding, I can't continue to post them due to copyright issues (I'm now told by the publisher).

Not exactly a big worry for me since I put them here for the enjoyment of the members to begin with, never thinking of publishing a book until some of you suggested it. It was a blast. And I'll keep you posted on what chapters are to be added, like the trip to San Francisco and a visit to the hungry-i to see Vaughn Meader in early 1963.

              Thanks,

              Bill

                Hi Bill,
You said you posted the stories here "for our enjoyment"... you've succeeded; I think you brought many of us enjoyment and cause for pleasant memories.
                Thank YOU!!!!
                Regards,

                  Bill,
I received your book for Christmas, and just got the opportunity to read it today. I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. In addition to being very "lucky" to have purchased your Corvette NEW, and then being able to reunite with the same vehicle that many years later, you also seem to have been "blessed" with a great amount of personal experiences some of us could only wish for. I THANK YOU for sharing some of those with us, and recommend your book to everyone, as a great read. I would also like to thank you for the personalized inscription from my daughters, along with your autograph. This alone will make me cherish this item for years to come.
                  Looking forward to the sequel,
                  Lynn
PS-I also found myself wondering which one of the women in the book you were lucky to make your wife. I have a guess, but will wait for the next book to find out (hopefully).
