    71 Brake proportioning valve

    Is the steel bracket that holds the brass body of the valve assembly supposed to be natural steel or is it painted? Are there any special markings on the bracket or body of original units.

      The steel bracket on my 71 LT-1 is natural steel color--not painted.

          Just for your information, it is NOT a proportioning valve. It is only a pressure differential switch, used to indicate a problem with the brake system.

                  "Special markings" would be the julian date stamped into it.
