This is my first post. I'd like to know the correct finishes for the '58 brake drums (correct paint?) and backing plates (correct plating, e.g. CAD I or CAD II?), or where this information can be found. The plan is to have my parts chemically stripped and then correctly refinish them. Thanks.

Your '58-'60 Judging Guide should have information on that in the "Chassis" section. I don't have one, but typically the rear axle was painted as a complete assembly (including the drums) at Detroit Gear & Axle before it was shipped to St. Louis.- Top

Re: 58 drum and backing plate finishes
John,
Thanks for your reply. It's a big help. I've had this car stored for 40 years without the engine and trans, and finally was able to bring it home and start on it. I'll order the Technical Information Manual and Judging Guide today along with a couple of other publications.
