    72 Washer Pump

What are the odds in the spring my washer pump will operate, its been about 10 years since its had washer fluid in the bag. I know the pump does cycle , I did buy a rebuilding kit just in case , from paragon corvette, its looks cheap to me, may just use the rubber seals, this spring I plan on trying to Top Flite my car. so this is my last operations thing that needs to be addressed.

has anyone had this situation before? such a long time for them to sit, I thought maybe the rubber seals may dry out.

I think mine went 17 years (minimum) between operations, and once I figured out that it was sucking air where the hose meets the washer bottle and fixed that leak, all was fine.

You may have to prime the system first, but there's only one way to find out.

      Ed,
Apply a small amount of hand lotion to the rubber parts and reassemble. Take a Q tip and apply some lotion inside the bore of the pump to be sure the piston seal gets some. Be sure to prime it properly as many people think it is an operational problem when it is just improper priming. Use pure water in the system as the blue anti freeze doesn't taste to good.

Thanks for the response guys, Dave,I saw a post a while back on taking a ketchup bottle- to fill up the hose and pump, thought that was a good idea, never did like the taste of the blue water.
