Weird, I've never seen this before.

Here is a Craigslist ad for a 63 split window project car. Notice that the TRIM TAG has the VIN stamped in it........

That is weird!
I don't think that the cars Body number lines up with the 20,059 serial number when comparing with other cars built around that time.
I've seen lots of pictures of '63 tags but never a creation like this.

I just put down Noland Adams Vol. 2 and the body #9829 and build month/week K3 seem about right with monthly production amounts. The engine #s/dates jive well enough too. (To me anyway)

This trim tag shot is a bit blurry and I've never seen what a repro looks like. I wish someone would post a real one next to a repop.

I've never seen a trim tag with what appears to be a rear stamped VIN # on it. I've seen a few trim tags with front stamped dealer delivery dates on them, but never a VIN. Any of you '63 guys ever seen this before? I'd be very cautious of this one.

Hi Mike,

That trim tag is close, for this particular cars stated serial number....but no cigar, IMO.

63 Coupe body #9,829 would fit in the production sequence at just about vin #19,601 to #19,605 or so.
Of course, it's possible that the tag might be an anomaly or error but I doubt it.
