5500 I believe is correct for the 390.

Good question. Bought my '66 390hp back in '88. I'm quite certain she has her original cluster. The '66 judging manual (pg. 23) states the redline at 5500. I think this may be an error or incomplete info.

My car, VIN #72xx has a tach that reads: orange range: 5000~5300 with redline range 5300~5500.

My car also has the 80psi oil pressure guage. The judging manual states this is unusual (same page).

There was a discussion on this just a few weeks ago. (actually, there have been several discussions on this topic) The tach for a 66 390 HP 427 was/is the exact same tach that was used for a 300 HP 327.

The oil pressure ga was an 80#.

The 66 390 HP cluster is unique to that application.

For 67, the 390 HP would have the mid range redline tach and a 60# oil pressure ga.
