    '65 gas tank support bracket

i've just took the old gas tank out of my '65 because it had 2 fuel leaks.
when i sand blasted the support bracket the 2 letters SP (in a circle) stamped in, came visible.
does anyone know what these stand for???? (vendor)

Re: '65 gas tank support bracket

    Hello Twan,

Yes, I think I know what the initials/logo stands for. It's actually the logo for Dow Smith "ds". Turn it upside down. This logo was stamped into other brackets as well. One that comes to mind is the front license plate black painted bracket. It has the "ds" logo also.

If I recall correctly, A.O. Smith Co. that worked out of Ionia, Michigan (additional makers of '64~'67 Vette bodies) was a subsidiary of Dow Smith Co. Famous in the '60s for making chemicals, etc...

Good luck on your '65. Oh, and by the way, I've been to Amsterdam many times with my air cargo company in the past.

    Cheers, Mike Browning '65 350hp, '66 390hp
