Got really exited there for a minute when I read this ad. Then I remembered that my '59 270 horse didn't come with any vacuum.

Hmmmm, no windshield washers? That glass must be pretty dirty by now.

No sun visors or radio either. You pretty much have to squint and entertain yourself.

I can think of at least two jokes right there.

Riiiight.....We won't go there. This is a family friendly site.

Well, the auction ended when I was out, you guessed it, Christmas shopping again! No one came up to the plate to buy it so if it stays fresh until January 21st I'm taking over to Kissimmee and try to sell it there. Ooops, I shouldn't say that here...sorry.

It was fun. I hope it gave some of you a chuckle. I guess this thread had some level of technical discussion and I appreciate that the content wasn't removed by the administrators. Thanks for your tolerance. Maybe some of you got a chuckle too.

See you next December......Hmmmm, maybe '59 nos light beams.

Have a great, safe & healthy Holiday.

Re: Another Rare NOS Item up for Auction

Okay....just a FYI of this whole escapade of holiday auction humor, I have to share this and then I promise no more. It's quite comical in it's own way.

I actually had the nos vacuum listing a few days before the one above. The title I had was basically the same thing but I added some "marketing keywords". Well the spider or whatever on ebay didn't like that and after a few days ended the auction. They sent me this message:

The listing was removed because it violated the eBay Search and Browse Manipulation policy. The violation occurred when you included the following information in your listing:
                  Corvette GM,Chevy,Barn,53 54 55 56 57 58 60 61 62 63-67 FI BB SB Survivor NCRS
Including a brand name used by a company other than the manufacturer or producer of an item can be misleading and make it harder for buyers to find items they're looking for. That's why we don't allow sellers to use any brand names that aren't directly related to the item being listed.

Ok that makes sense. I fixed the title and relisted it. 2 days later I got a note from them. I thought I was going to get spanked again. This was the note:

Congratulations! Your recent selling activity and great service to your customers qualify you for the eBay PowerSeller program as a Bronze PowerSeller.
Activate your PowerSeller status now and enjoy great benefits, such as: ..bla,bla,bla. I went, Huh? & laughed out loud. How ironic was that!

....So to be thorough, here are the Q's & A's from the first listing that got yanked. Yes I know..... some really corney stuff.

                  The End...
                  Rich

Q:dos diz com wit a can of whup azz and is there a buy it now price.i will check and see if my citi bank card can be denied again being they need mo money from bo or no lo or doe.
A:Huh?......... See, you didn't read the entire description. (I hate it when they do that) NO BIN PRICE!
I'm not exactly sure what whup azz is. ok I get it now. So, I'll throw in the blue & white can the guy gave me. But it's old and may not hold vacuum. And please, no politically incorrect comments allowed.
                  Merry Christmas
                  p.s.
wow, my first bid yesterday. 10 measly cents! I can see this is really gonna be a hot item. You folks don't know what you're missing out on!

Q:Are you shure the photo is the actual photo of it? Because Im looking real hard, but just not seeing what you see! When was the last time you got an I exam? Hey!!! and heres a tip... next time you take a picture try turning the lites on... thats, switch up.... down is off!!!!
thank you very much, I hope this help you in the future auctions. Let me know if you need more help. I have been known to critisize people!
                  Randy

A:Dear Randy, Yes the photo is actual. It was taken in a sealed darkroom to ensure there were no external forces acting on it. Vacuum is affected by light. I bet you didn't know that!
Thanks for your help and for being so understanding.(lol)

Q:Can you tell me what elevation the car was at when you took the vacuum out ? Gotta make sure I'm getting my money's worth - been scammed so many times on feebay I refuse to be victimized again, thanks for understanding and answering.
A:Here in Florida we're about 3 feet above sea level. If you recall in science class in grammar school, vacuum is at its maximum attainable value measured at sea level, therefore this is about as good as it gets. You could actually get about 29.921 inches of vacuum here, but because the car sat for 50 years it shrank a few inches. That's why I stated it may be a slightly different value when you receive it.
I really dislike the scamming going on here too. The nerve of some of those people!
                  Happy Holidays

Q:I NEED TO KNOW HOW MUCH THE RESERVE PRICE IS, BECAUSE I FORGOT MY PASSWORD!!!
A:Ha,Ha.....Not this time! Sorry about your bad luck.(LOL)

Q:Hi Rich.... I have put so many bids on this Vacuum that I feel like I know you. Except I don't know you. And I feel this auction has been RIGGED. How is it possible I can bid so many times, and keep getting asked to bid higher. What the heck is up with that? I'm not crazy, (neither am I) but I know you live someplace in my neck of the woods... and I NEED THAT VACUUM!!!! And if you even think about trading this off for vintage exhaust or prop wash.... ( almost lost it when I read that) or some other trade deal... I'm goin off dude...
                  Randy

A:I have no idea where you are, but yes I think I know you from somewhere too...(enter twilight zone music here). Aren't you the guy I saw yesterday at the 7-11 near the shopping mall on Route (441/500/25/27/301). (How the heck does a GPS handle one road with 5 route numbers? Geesh, only in Florida.)
You bought 37 separate Lotto tickets, then 31 quick pick Powerball tickets, then 27 scratch cards, then you asked for prepay $2.00 on pump 3! That was you right?
........No, not a rigged auction. That never happens here.(yea, right!) I guess the first bidder set a max bid and your puny micro-cent bids just haven't reached what his proxy bid is yet. How long y'all been doin' this Ebay stuff anyways?
                  Don't worry, I won't trade. I need the cash.

Q:I have a bucket of prop wash, are you willing to trade?
                  A:Hmmm, let me think a moment.......Mine is a pretty rare item. I don't know, maybe....Ok, I got it. If it's from a P-51 Mustang I may consider it.
(Ok, easy you Corvette guys keep your pantie hose on I'm talking about the plane not the car!)
                  Merry Christmas.....Rich
