    67 Small Block Hood Seperation

I have read the archives and understand not to rigidly glue the skin and frame of the hood together. When the hoods were made they used a dum
dum which is flexible. Any ideas on what can be used now?

    William,

People have reported good results with hood repairs using
DAP Premium Polyurethane Roofing and Flashing Sealant or PL black polyurethane gutter and flashing sealant. The latter is carried by Lowes. Both product remain relatively flexible after curing.

      Gary,
I thought about RTV it says flexible more so than flashing sealant. Your thoughts?

        Bill -

        RTV won't take paint.

            Bill,

Take a look at this post from the archives:

The stuff that Gary recommended is the way to go. Sets like hard rubber, is black, and can be painted (after 72 hours). It matched the original blackout paint on the hood of my 67 so well, I wound up not having to repaint the hood underside.
