    What a can of worms!!!!!!!!!!

Run voltage problem. Either the wiring, coil resistor or the ignition switch. I'll vote for the ignition switch. They carbon up and by turning the switch you make new contact. That's the only changing thing in this picture.

Run voltage goes from the ignition switch to the coil resistor and to the coil. If it ain't a loose wire, bad resistor (not likely) it's the switch.

      Problem solved!!!

Thanks for Timothy for suggesting a test light on the resistor and to Stuart for pointing out that the start circuit seemed fine. Joe gets the gold star for getting me close.

The car quit this morning and I ran and got a test light that showed the 12 volts when starting and missing when the ignition switch was released. On the third attempt to start it had the 12 volts and of course ran. While running I got under the dash and as soon as I touched the wiring on the back of the switch, the car died. The brown lead that supplies power was warm to touch and when I pulled it off it was really crusty! A good cleaning of the switch pins and plug solved the problem.

Thanks to all! I can now go for a cruise without worrying every moment about having to call AAA.
