What is the difference between the trim paint and the body paint? The codes are different, perhaps a flatter paint? What codes are restorers using for the Instrument cluster, kick panels, center console for C1's? Fawn Beige in particular -

Re: Trim Paint
Dave,
I believe "body" paint, and "trim" paint, have many different characteristics. One being that interior trim paint is usually "flatter" than paint on the outside of the body. But original applied lacquer was fairly flat before rubbing and polishing also, so there will be more differences that just the "shine". Interior paint was not made to stand up to the outside environment as well. I would suggest searching the archives, and maybe some old Restorer magazines (looks like you been in the membership for awhile), as I think I have seen some of these codes there from the early car interiors. I sure someone who has these codes handy will join in also.

Re: Trim Paint
dave: when i've done opur 54, 55 and both 57's, all i did different with the interior paint was to add a flatten agent to the paint to be sprayed on the UPPER dash. rest of the interior was exterior lacquer and not sanded/buffed to high gloss. never had a judge question the finishes on these old c-1's. mike- Top

Re: Trim Paint
This subject is in line with what was going to be one of my next questions. Does anyone know the Duco color # for the red/orange lower instrument panel/column/etc used in 57 Vettes? I have the color # of the Sportsman Red used in 53-55, but somehow I cannot find the 56/57 color. A local auto store was able the mix the Sportsman Red, using Dupont Centari (enamel) paint. So I am hoping he can mix the 56/57 also.
Thanks Guys -Dan-- Top
