53 to 62 parts interchange question

I know the 53 cowl vent and the steering column turn signal hub were used in other C1's. What is the latest year that each of those parts was used? Did they both go all the way to 62?

yes. and, the 53 and 54 chevy pass cars used an identical directional signal switch housing.

About 95% of the 53-62 Vette and 49-54 pass car frontend parts/suspension/cross member are interchangeable.
Here is a link to a total frontend rebuild that I put together and placed it on the 49-54 pass car section of the Chevytalk site (for some reason, this site wasn't interested in it).

Great restoration article. Thanks very much for sharing your knowledge. I did my 59 suspension(on the car) about 20 years ago and wish I had your article then. I now have 2 C1 restoration projects and will be using your info as a guide.

The list would be long Cad, Olds, Studebaker, T-bird ,Chevy and more of the 50's and 60's parts are the same as Corvette and that's how I come up with rare parts , you need an old car fart to help you out.

Right on Roy about parts used in other cars and Vettes.

But my interest right now is in what same parts were used in all the Corvettes from 53 to 62. So far we've got the cowl vent, turn signal housing and quite a few of the front suspension/steering parts. Probably the trunk lock and bezel too? Were the washer squirters the same? Any thing else you are aware of?

These are just a (few) parts that can be found by not using the word Corvette that are the same as Corvette parts. How do you think I find rare NOS parts ? by not going to Corvette sights !

Don't forget the old Chevy trucks - there are a lot of useable parts to be found on them too.
