    Paint colors for parts

I have been working on cleaning parts and repainting some things lately. Does anyone know if there is a reference material that will tell me correct paint colors for things like master cylinder, timing cover, flywheel cover, engine block...miscellaneous parts. Sure, some are Chevrolet orange, but which ones? Some are black, ok, but which ones and what black? If it's in the AIM I dont find it.
    Thanks!

The '61-'62 judging manual would probably answer alot of the questions........Happy Holidays !......Steven J.

i'm not certain all in current judging manual is correct, is spite of my having helped write it( we did it in the mid to late 90's).anyway, to answer your questions noted above, the block, timing chain cover and clutch inspection cover are chevy engine orange. the master cyl was either semi-gloss black or unpainted raw cast iron, i prefer to paint mine semi-gloss black.AIM of little or no help when it comes to part finishes. judging manual will be revised soon. in the meantime, post your questions here and we'll try to help ya.i'm just started the resto of our 62 and am facing the same questions you are. good luck with your project.mike

i've spend hours researching the same for our 340 HP 62.....except for the overspray that can or doesn't exist....i beliveve the attached is correct. the scheme is essentially based upon "what was assembled to the engine in flint" before being shipped to St Louis for assembly....I don't care for overspray.

I have other pics if anyone is interested. Thanks Jerry

not sure if attachment made it
