73 Engine coolant reservoir cleanup

Reproduction engine coolant reserviors do not have the same profile as original, therefore will not fit without adaptation. My original has yellowed over the years and is badly stained. Any tricks of the trade that may be applied to get it back to near original appearance?

I've tried and think Lyle has also. The yellow ageing is not just on the surface and is impossible to 'undo'.
