    63 Dip stick tube

The upper dip stick tube on my 327 rotates freely, even though its all the way down in the hole. Anybody know the best way to stop this rotation? I tried a new Paragon repro, with the same result.

    Michael,

Yep, take it out, clean it and clean the hole in the block. Then JB Weld that sucker in the hole. Works and eliminates that annoying little leak that runs down the pan.

        Michael,
If you use a pair of vise grips and carefully "egg shape" the loose end of the tube it will tighten up the fit. Go slow or you will buy a new tube! The small amount you bend the tube should not cause an oil leak. Bill

Doesn't Chevy still sell that tube? I remember that on my 63 we goofed and used the original tube over. Was a mistake in that the tube was far from tight. Installed a new one I bought from local Chevy dealer. Problem solved.
