I don't want to do this, but to put on my new VAC I have too. In looking at the ignition shileding on my '67 L71, it is very different from my '66 L79. I am wondering what the most efficient way to remove it is. Should you take the plug wires out of the distributor cap (and of course go thorugh all the marking hassle), or shoud you remove the plug wires at the plugs and deal with the grounding straps removal hassle. Or is there a simpler way to do this? Thanks for any tips.

Re: Removing ignition shielding
I think the simplest way is to remove the stands from the intake, leave the plugs on the cap, take the cap off and swing the whole works forward and out of your way. It's not a treat getting to those rear intake bolts to get the stands/mounting brackets off though. If you didn't have the shielded wires and then didn't have the ground wires to deal with, then you could try leaving the brackets attached. I just thought it was easier to take the whole works off.
Good luck,
