Tinted Glass For 63

So, when was the A01/A02 tinted glass option actually available for 63? Having a discussion (well, near arguement) with one of the local restorers that is installing full tint in a January 63 build.

Word is, the first sign of a car rolling out of the St Louis plant with this option was very close to the introduction of air conditioning, possibly some time around April?

Does anyone have any actual documentation that shows that either A01 or A02 was actually installed on the line for a car earlier than this? A REAL window sticker or car shipper/invoice.

This probably doesn't help you much, but I ordered my 63 on April 10, 1963 and specified the 2A01A Tinted Glass @ $ 16.15. My earlier Chevies (56 and 57) had tinted glass and I liked it as it made the car look cool. I was statiioned in the southwest at that time too so the choice was a natural.

I have images of paper on several 63's with tinted glass, and the earliest of the bunch is 16959 (June 12th), windshield only.

I have orginal tinted glass (all windows) on my '63 car. VIN 30837S118658.

Thanks everyone. So far, we have no cars earlier than about April that came out of the plant with tinted glass.

Interesting on the glass in Ken's car is all the same date. Bet that was the first run of tinted glass and the time/dating was consistant because the inventory wasn't upset by the odd number of windshields compared to full tint. Also, there most likely wouldn't have been any service glass sold that early.

I think Loren Lundberg had paperwork on a car in the 14,xxx range with full tint? Believe it was one of the first A/C cars?
