    1961 Clutch Pedal

I just got my 1961 back from getting it serviced and it was the first time I drove the car. (It had been sitting for 26 years).

My question is...they clutch engages at the top of the pedal travel and is this normal?

I have a 1963 and it catches at the lower end of the pedal travel.

    Thanks,

    Jerry

    Jerry -

There's only one way to correctly adjust the clutch. You make the adjustment so you have 1" to 1-1/4" of pedal free travel (from the fully-up position, against the rubber bumper, to the point where you feel resistance when depressing the pedal); the dimension is measured at the pedal pad surface. Inadequate pedal free travel can result in frying the throwout bearing.
