Cars for sale at Kissimmee 2010 Regional

I've been an NCRS member for quite some time, but I have not attended many of the shows at all. I will have the opportunity to be in Kissimmee next month and plan to attend the Regional meet one day.

I looked at the schedule and see that there is a vendor area but no mention of an area for cars for sale. I know this is a large meet. Are there usually quite a few cars for sale at the meet?

I have been looking for a "no issues" mid-year coupe for a while (preferably a '67) and have had no luck, and I thought the show may be a good opportunity to see some nice cars and talk to some folks about an available car. I assume for sale signs are not allowed on flight judged cars.

    Thanks.

Not that I can speak on behalf of the Florida Chapter, but rather from past experience with the Winter Meet here in Orlando, I presume there will be plenty of cars available in the "For Sale" lot as in years past. In fact, that is one part that seems to grow every year. The number of Corvettes is usually equal to the other models of Chevies and third world cars like Fords and Chrysler products. I believe there is an Auction at or near by the site as well. Check the Florida Chapter website for more complete information: www.NCRSFL.ORG

I've attended the Florida Regional every year since the days it was at Cypress Gardens in Winter Haven ... I think 1988 was the first year I attended. You will find a decent selection of cars for sale, Corvettes and others. Whether what you are looking for is available is up for grabs. You may want to survey the parts vendor area also, there are cars for sale there also. Good luck, it's a great meet.

What Stu said! But anyway the auction is not on site anymore. It is held at the county fairground's about 20-30 minutes away. You can go on Mecums web site and see what will be available. Tom

I don't believe that the Mecum auction is even the same weekend as the NCRS meet. It is the following weekend.

If that is true and I hope it is true, I am laughing and rooting for the NCRS Florida Chapter.

It's wonderful that Mecum won't be around to distract from the most successful NCRS Regional year after year at Old Town.

As it was stated above the Mecum auction is not the same weekend as the Old Town winter meet. I just got some paperwork from Mecum today and the dates for the auction are the next week end. I geuss I will not be going because I am not going to make the trip twice. I don't know why these two can't get together on dates. This same thing happened a couple years ago. Really even though it was crowded it was better when both events were held together. I really enjoy going to both. But I already have my room booked for the Winter meet. Tom

One Catch-22 here, is it IS official NCRS policy NOT to allow cars on the judging field with 'for sale' notice of any kind.

Now that doesn't mean these cars can't be located somewhere else that's NOT a part of the judging field, but don't expect to come to an NCRS meet, walk the judging field and see cars for sale...

Who said anything about selling cars on the judging field? Jack I think you are a little confused about the Mecum auction that is now held at the fairgrounds and the NCRS winter meet at Old Town. They used to be at the same site, but have not been in awhile. Just trying to clear up any misunderstanding. Hope this helps.Tom

The for sale car corral is located adjacent to the swap meet area.

What a disappointment the Mecum auction is not being held the same week....I always look forward to both.

I agree I always look forward to both as well. The first year they moved out to the fairgronds 192 was underconstruction and the trffic was a nightmare. Oh well I won't be going this coming year. Tom

                        Tom,
Read the last sentence of the O.P., that is what Jack was responding to, not the auction or for sale corral.

The problem is not NCRS or Mecum its BJ. We have to select dates 2 years in advance and BJ was earlier in month last year so the dates were good so that both us and Mecum could be on same weekend. We tried changing to adapt to BJ for a couple of years but it was just too much confusion. Since we depend a lot on volunteers, avaliable venue and vendors we have decided on the 3rd weekend and BJ can do what it wants. Our registered parties have been constant no matter what happened with Mecum. We may not have as many spectators but they do not pay anyway. We have consistant vendors and this year we have more cars to be judged because of national on the east coast.

The for sale corral usually has from 80 to 100 cars each year.

We will have some special cars this year so if you get a chance come enjoy the susnshine.

I geuss I can understand Jacks point although the op stated that he didn't think that there would be cars for sale on the judging field. Also thanks to Tyler for a response to my question as to why Mecum and the Florida chapter could not get together.Although I don't know why B J should have an impact.Tom

Mecum will not do his auction the same weekend as the BJ auction which ment we were having to change the meet dates after publishing them. Finally decided it was too much trouble, we set our dates and if BJ is earlier Dana will have his auction the same weekend as our meet.
